In this month of Woodstock 50th anniversary reflections, the Capitol Theatre is screening Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church.
Hendrix, of course, is famous for his sunrise performance of The Star-Spangled Banner at that legendary festival. This film captures him in concert the following summer at the Atlanta Pop Festival on July 4, 1970, along with documentary footage that puts his work in the context of the time, including the anti-Vietnam War movement, the morphing of the civil rights movement into more militant action and the slew of festivals in the early 70s that tried to re-capture Woodstock.
Admission is $9.75, $8.75 for students and $7 for seniors, which would include pretty much anyone who actually was at Woodstock or the Atlanta Pop Festival!
