Cleveland Reads … The Mueller Report at Nighttown

Wed 8/28 @ noon-11PM

Perhaps inspired by their annual reading of James Joyce Ulysses, Nighttown in Cleveland Heights is hosting the reading of another literary odyssey — this one through the corruption of the Trump campaign and its potential collusion with a hostile foreign power to control the results of an American election.

Anyone who wishes to participate is invited to come to the venue for “Cleveland Reads (Volume 2 of the Redacted) Mueller Report,” described as “an 11-hour celebration of the power of the American citizen as we the people of Cleveland read aloud and listen to Volume 2 of Special Counsel for the Department of Justice, Robert Mueller’s The Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election.”

“I think it’s important that citizens know what is in the Mueller Report, and I know we’re all so busy,” says event producer Christine McBurney. “As Americans, we’ve become accustomed to clicking on ‘I Agree’ without reading the fine print. We have to be better informed in this political climate, the stakes are so high. I was inspired by the reading that took place in New York earlier this summer and reached out to its director, Jackson Gay, who was helpful with logistics.”

That reading spawned similar events around the country throughout the summer.

Anyone is welcome to participate. Just show up, pay the $10 donation which all goes to immigrant support organization RAICES and check in with the stage manager and sign up for a ten-minute slot. Musicians are also needed to play during the redacted sections of the report.
