Baldwin-Wallace Is First School Given Rights to Perform “Kinky Boots” in November

11/12-24

Baldwin Wallace’s music theatre program has announced that it will be presenting the musical Kinky Boots, which just closed on Broadway this past spring after a six-year run, this coming November. BW is the first university in the U.S. to receive the rights to present the popular show. With a book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, it tells the story of a failing shoe factory that finds second life producing boots for drag queens.

Seven BW music theatre alum have been featured in the Broadway and touring productions of the show, and BW plans to close its November run with an “extravaganza” with as many of them as they can bring in. Victoria Bussert, head of the music theatre program, will be directing.

Tickets for the show at the Mainstage Theatre at Kliest Center for the Arts in Berea will go on sale early this fall.
