Sat 2/2 @ 2-4PM
Even nearing the end of January, when all of the leaves and greenery are long gone, you can still identify local trees! On Saturday February 2, local expert Dr. Ted Auch will be teaching hikers how to tell a maple from an oak using other unique characteristics and techniques. In partnership with the Doan Brook Watershed program, learn why trees grow where they do, and their relationship with watersheds — pollution control and stormwater play a part in the way plants grow around us.
Urban infrastructure, with our parking lots and roads and sidewalks, blocks water from draining and increases flooding and pollution. The Doan Brook Watershed Partnership is a nonprofit that protects and celebrates this local watershed, which spreads 12 miles and touches the communities of Buckeye, Shaker Square, University Circle, Glenville, Saint Clair-Superior, Fairfax, and Hough.
Hikers can meet parking lot off Forest Hills Blvd. that is near the intersection of Lee Road and Forest Hills Blvd. in Cleveland Heights. Dress for cold weather and uneven terrain.
Registration for this event is required and can be found at the bottom of of their webpage: doanbrookpartnership.
