Unfortunately, those who need it the most won’t be at the Sex Ed Trivia Night at the Happy Dog, sponsored by Planned Parenthood and the Ohio Center for Sex Education.
That would be the Republican (mostly) members of the Ohio state legislature who are keen to pass bills taking away funding from Planned Parenthood that supports preventive health screenings and programs to combat infant mortality; to ban abortion, or to ban particular abortion procedures that are safe and common; and to force women to give birth to babies with defects while voting down resources to care for these children.
Yet both these organizations, with their emphasis on comprehensive sex education and providing access to contraception, have done more to decrease abortions than all the avid anti-choice zealots combined.
This evening is a great chance for pro-women/pro-choice activists and supporters to get together, have some fun and raise a little money for the organization. Doors open at 6:30; trivia happens from 7:30-8:30, and event goes until 9:30, with time for networking, strategizing and/or commiserating. Admission is $7, which includes a tater tot bar and drink specials.
