Tremont’s Doubting Thomas Shows a Multitude of Artists in Its “We Can” Show

Fri 7/13 @ 6-10PM

The funky little Doubting Thomas art and free verse space in Tremont always has something off-the-wall going on. It’s the sort of place where amateurish art that looks like someone’s first piece ever could be hanging next to a showstopper that makes you ask “Why isn’t this person famous?”

During the July Walkabout Tremont, it’s opening a show called WE CAN. Like several events around town, it plays on the idea of showing artists who were “rejected” from the CAN Triennial at 78th Street Studios, featuring work by artists not accepted in other juried shows. (Undoubtedly you will feel some of them did not deserve to be!) The salon-style display should feature the gallery’s usual range of media, techniques and degrees of artistic ability.

The opening will also feature snacks, drinks and live music. Doubting Thomas is open Fridays @ 6-9pm, and Saturdays and Sundays @ 1-4PM. The show runs through Sun 7/29.
