Apollo’s Fire Plays Favorite Hit Concertos of the 1720s

Thu 6/21 @ 7:30PM

Fri 6/22 @ 8PM

With their annual Countryside Concerts behind them, Cleveland’s baroque orchestra Apollo’s Fire has a couple more hometown appearances this month.

They will play two entirely different programs, dubbed “Greatest Hits of the 1720s.” On Thu 6/21 at the Bath Church UCC they’ll perform three double concertos: Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe with soloists Debra Nagy (oboe) and Johanna Novom (violin); Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos with soloists René Schiffer and Ezra Seltzer; and Vivaldi’s Sorrell La Folia (“Madness”) with Olivier Brault and Susanna Gilmore.

On Fri 6/22 at Cleveland Institute of Music’s Kulas Hall, they’ll play three more concertos: Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins, with Olivier Brault and Adriane Post, selections from Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 2 featuring flute player Kathie Stewart; and Vivaldi’s Concerto in B Minor for Four Violins.

Tickets are $10-$45.
