Return of Simple’s Rob Kovacs Does “Cocktail Hourz” as Part of Euclid Tavern Residency

Sun 4/22 @ 8PM

Pianist/vocalist/songwriter Rob Kovacs recently revived his band Return of Simple after moving back to Cleveland from New York. The band broke up in 2011 after eight years and he took off for a while. The piano pop trio Return of Simple is now working on a new album.

Kovacs, who has a classical background, also performs as a solo artist, and creates music for uses such as e-cards, movie soundtracks and games.

Now he’s taking over the Happy Dog at the Euclid Tavern every Sunday in April and early May to showcase another aspect of his sound. This week he’s doing something called ‘Cocktail Hourz” where will play lounge-style piano tunes and invite listeners to enjoy cocktails to go with their signature Happy Dog hot dogs.

Next week, Sun 4/29, he’ll do another rendition of his 88bit project where he creates piano arrangements of classic chiptune and Nintendo music. Return of Simple plays on Sun 5/6 and Sun 5/13 will be “Singers Night” when some of Cleveland’s best singers perform the first half of the night and other singers can step up to the open mic during the second half to perform with Kovacs accompanying them.

The shows are free and all ages.
