Akron’s Artist-Run Box Gallery Opens Two New Shows

Fri 4/13 @ 5-8PM

Downtown Akron’s artist-run Box Gallery in the Summit Artspace opens a pair of solo shows this week with a free artist reception Fri 4/13 @ 5-8pm.

Arron Foster’s interdisciplinary work encompasses video, animation, installation, drawing and printmaking. He is currently the Visiting Assistant Professor of Print Media at Kent State University. His exhibition Another Time Has Other Lives to Live looks at transience and how our live impact our perceptions of change and time, involving both abstractions and representation.

Emily Brannan’s Ache is her BFA show in sculpture and metalsmithing from the University of Akron. She draws her experience with ovarian cysts and her response to her friends becoming mothers in light of her own possible infertility, using imagery of the female reproductive system as the basis of her work in materials such as pink insulation batting, steel wool, synthetic hair and fiberglass filaments.

The shows remain on view through Sat 5/12.
