PHOTOSTREAM: Cleveland Woman’s March by Carol Hunt

Sat 1/20

An estimated 7000 women and women’s rights supporters marched in downtown Cleveland on Sat 1/20, reprising the massive women’s marches of one year ago that marked the beginning of the current presidential administration.

Marking the one-year anniversary of a protest movement that has solidified into activism, marchers carried signs denouncing the current president of the United States, and provided vivid evidence of the resistance to many of the administration’s policies regarding women’s issues, the environment, international cooperation and a progressive agenda.

The march featured speeches by notable area women leaders such as Tara Mosely-Samples, who is running as Dennis Kuchinich’s running mate in the governor’s race, plus former U.S. Rep Betty Sutton, who is the running mate of gubernatorial candidate Richard Cordray.

The march attracted attention from the media and disrupted traffic, especially around the Convention Center, which was hosting the Cleveland Tattoo Arts Expo and a pro baseball festival.
