With the explosion in the number and popularity of burlesque shows in Cleveland, some of the performers are starting to feel like old friends, especially to those who are regulars at the shows put on at the Beachland Ballroom by Le Femme Mystique.
One performer showgoers know is the vibrant, sassy Rubi-Nesque. Sadly, just before the holidays, her 17-year-old son was admitted to the hospital in cardiac arrest, and she was told he had a 1 in 5 chance of surviving and would almost certainly be severely brain damaged. But Rubi got her Christmas miracle, and her son is on the road to recovery.
Needless to say, though, her family was left with a lot of bills, and the Cleveland Burlesque Unites benefit at the Beachland aims to make a dent in them. So this is your chance to help out a sister and catch performances by some of the top burlesque performers in the area.
The big cast includes popular local performers past and present, including Le Femme Mystique/Ohio Burlesque Fest founder Bella Sin, Carmen M’Knoxide, Kinsey Quake, Noella Deville, Georgia Pearl, Ava Adore, Aurora Sans, Ohh La Lola, Marley Teenie, Kay Cee Sunshine, Constantinople, Lakota Shekhar, Dahlia D’Luxe, Shrimp Cocktail, Mahsitti Jade, Selena Noir, Eliza Sidecar and Athens’ Rene Marr. The show will be hosted by Champagne Charlie and Fever Blister.
The show starts at 8:30 but come when the doors open at 7:30 so you can buy raffle tickets and peruse the various items for bid. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and ALL money from the door, raffles and tip bucket will go to Rubi.
