British-born, Cleveland-based jazz/pop vocalist Helen Welch is one busy lady.
Last month she celebrated the release of a new album called Spellbound featuring her renditions of tunes such as Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” Chick Corea’s “Spain,” and the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins classic “I Put a Spell on You.”
This month, she’s unveiling her first Christmas album Home for Christmas. Her song selection shows off her versatility as she tackles the holiday standard “The Christmas Song,” a jazz arrangement of “Merry Christmas Darling,” Stevie Wonder’s “it’s Magic” and a new self-penned song.
She’ll get the season rolling with a CD release show at the Akron Civic Theatre where she’ll perform with a band that includes pianist Joe Leaman, bassist Bryan Thomas, guitarist Adam Keeler and drummer Anthony Taddeo. Tickets are $25.
