Bubba’s-Q Bar-B-Q & Catering in Avon has become a popular hangout in the western suburbs, both for the smoky goodness of its food and the genial, outgoing personality of owner/host Al “Bubba” Baker, a former member of the Cleveland Browns (The Cleveland sports memorabilia covering the wall is another attraction).
Now Bubba’s-Q has joined with the Kick Hunger Challenge to hold the first Bubba’s-Q Pitchfest and Block Party, benefitting the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
At the Saturday evening Pitchfest, hosted by Cleveland comedian Ricky Smith, five entrepreneur/contestants, picked from online submissions, will pitch business professionals and celebrities for the chance to win the $2,500 grand prize and an hour sit-down mentorship with Bubba and his daughter/business partner Brittani. The runner-up gets $1,000.
On Sunday, the winners will be announced at the block party as guests will have the chance to interact with the competing entrepreneurs, as well as partake of Bubba’s famous food, paired with beer in the beer and wine garden. Vistaprint will be offering consultations and samples, there will be live music and a DJ, celebrities and pro athletes will be on site making appearances, and the Cleveland Browns game will be broadcast throughout the facility.
Bring the kids too – there’ll be special activities for them. On second thought, maybe you shouldn’t: there will also be adoptable dogs and cats making cute faces and trying to worm their way into your heart. “Mommy, Daddy, we need a new puppy!”
Tickets to the Pitchfest are $15; tickets to the Block Party are $25. Attend both for $30. Go here to order tickets.
