Bowie has always been special to Cleveland. It was one of the first markets in the U.S. where he got airplay and attracted a following. He played his first U.S. show ever in Cleveland at Music Hall in September 1972. It was sold out in advance, and he returned in November to play two shows at Public Hall, which holds 10,000 people to Music Hall’s 3,000.
David Bowie turns 69 on January 8 and he’s still going strong, with a brand new album Blackstar, just released. To celebrate, Blue Arrow Records is throwing a birthday party, coinciding with the monthly Walk All Over Waterloo. There will be guest DJs (guess what they’ll be playing!), special David Bowie collectible items available for sale and of course, birthday cake. This has nothing to do with David Bowie but you can also pet the resident cats. It’s free.
