Painted Rain Barrel Project Holds Workshop @CoitFarmMarket

Sat 5/17 @ 10AM

If you’d like to participate in the rain barrel painting workshop taking place at the Coit Road Farmers market, hurry — there are only a handful of spots left. You can sign up to receive a barrel there for $30, or bring your own for free. But either way, you should register now!

The workshops are led by local artist Linda Zolten Wood, who conceived the Collinwood Painted Rain Barrel Project a couple of years ago after the colorful barrel she painted for her house started to attract attention from neighbors.

The barrels are an environmentally friendly way to water your garden, as well as to relieve the strain on the sewage system.

The event’s a potluck, so bring a dish or beverage to share, as well as a chair and your messiest clothes. (You could also buy something at the market, which is open from 8am-1pm on Saturdays). If you just want to find out what it’s all about, come on down and watch!

Wood currently has an exhibit of artist-painted barrels making its way around area institutions. It will be at the Great Lakes Science Center through the end of May.
