The Beachland Ballroom has a packed weekend of concerts to celebrate its 14th anniversary with shows going on in both the ballroom and the tavern.
It’s appropriate that the tavern will be hosting a variety of local music this weekend, since the Beachland has been instrumental in launching so much area talent.
Tonight it showcases three interesting underground bands.
The show is headlined by All Dinosaurs formed in 2009 by guitarist/vocalists Dave Gibian and Bo Bowersmith, who grew up together in Lakewood. The band released its second album Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior in mid 2012. They surely intended the title to ironic as the quartet plays the kind of howling, relentless, confrontational music one used to hear on Monday nights at the Euclid Tavern in the ’90s.
They’ll be joined by punk-based trio Night Sweats, whose album New Sounds, came out this past November, displaying their swaggering attitude and raw, blazing energy.
Black Puddle Noise rounds out the bill. They’re yet another loud trio, but one with a droning, mournful underpinning that borrows its vibe from stoner rock.
Admission is $8.
