It’s that time again. As big box retailers increasingly encroach upon a national holiday with their Black Friday (now Black Thursday?) sales, we’d like to remind you there’s a better way to shop. ShopLOCAL. Shop at places owned by your neighbors that, in all likelihood, will be CLOSED on Thanksgiving.
We’ve compiled a list of the best places to shop, whether you’re looking for record stores, bookshops, vintage boutiques or a place to get a treat — we’ve got you covered. View the list here.
Every year, shoppers in Northeast Ohio seem to become more and more conscious about shopping local during the holiday season (and year round).
To encourage you to shop locally, we’ve compiled a chronological list of upcoming holiday pop-up markets to help you coordinate your holiday shopping…

“Hopefully, we’re building something here with Genghis Con. That’s why I’ve been part of it since the first year,” says Derf. “For years the Cleveland comix community consisted of me running into Harvey Pekar at the grocery store. It’s frustrated me since I moved here in 1986….”

It’s the first time Cleveland Public Library has done such a thing.
They’re issuing library cards to over 2000 kindergarten students in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, as well as charter and parochial schools, completely free of charge, just to start kids off on a lifetime of learning.
Cool Cleveland talks with Brian Belmont, principal of Constellation Schools’ Eastside Arts Academy in Slavic Village while Lan Gao, the children’s librarian at CPL’s nearby Fleet Branch issues the cards to the students and reads stories with them. CPL.org
