’80s Cleveland Dance Club Regulars Celebrate The Reunion

Wed 11/27 @ 8PM

Dedicated northeast Ohio dance music fans know the names Rob Sherwood and Mike Filly. The two DJs helped plant the roots of Cleveland’s dance music scene, playing the techno and industrial music that fed today’s EDM.

Every year, they take fans on a nostalgia trip, back back back to the ’80s when people danced the night away at venues like the Alterhouse, the Nine of Clubs in the Warehouse District (both in the Warehouse district, long before it became a hangout for bros), and the chic Aquilon/Lift in the Flats.

Sherwood boasts that this is “the epic event that is becoming a Cleveland tradition,” and if you were a regular at any of those venues where Filly and Sherwood spun back in the day, it certainly is. You’ll be hearing all your favorite music from that era: Nitzer Ebb (pictured), Depeche Mode, Front 242, Ministry, Front Line Assembly, and many more.

The event, which takes place at the SmART Space at the 78th Street Galleries, is very popular — and Thanksgiving eve is a big night to go out. So you might want to order your tickets — $35 — soon. They won’t be available at the door. Go here.

The Reunion is a benefit for Colors of Cleveland Pride.

This was not the truth. Mike Filly was a “fill in” dj. Always.
