Enter “Noises Off” and “comic masterpiece” in your search bar, and you’ll find that phrase used to describe Michael Frayn’s comedy in publications from the U.K. (where the play takes place) to Canada, California, and around the world. Now it’s coming to Cleveland, with theatre veteran Jack Winget directing.
Picture this: a play within a play, and nothing is going right. It’s the final dress rehearsal for “Nothing’s On,” at a Municipal Theatre in not-so-jolly-old-England, and madcap characters are coming and going.
“If you have never been part of the magical process of theatre rehearsal or performance, you will be deliciously surprised and entertained watching how a theatre company stumbles, bumbles, laughs and cries while stoically proving that ‘the show must go on,’” says Winget. Oh, and the play features an inexhaustible supply of sardines.
Come early for the pre-show entertainment by Stuart Raleigh. At the John Patrick Theatre at the Kleist Center for Art & Drama on the campus of BW University in Berea. The show runs Tue 4/23 – Sun 4/28.
