Representing Ingenuity’s themes of “Creative Makers” and entrepreneurialism are numerous small businesses and startups showcasing their cool new products, businesses, and apps. Lincoln Electric of Cleveland puts a virtual welding laser in your hands. Aaron Marks & Brandt HH Butze of Shaker Heights built an app, Walk With Me, to help people find walking and exercise partners and get the paunchy cyber-obsessed out from behind their screens. The entreprenerds from IOTOS (Internet of Things Operating System) of Cleveland/Akron have built a chip that passes information in two directions, and to demonstrate it at Ingenuity, you can use the QR scanner on your iPhone to order and pour yourself a beer. Audio wizard Dennis Althar of Lucid ULD (Ultra Long Distance) in Cleveland has developed a powerful speaker system that projects sound for hundreds of yards without losing volume.
Dar Caldwell co-founded LaunchHouse in Shaker Heights in 2008 to be both an incubator and accellerator that offers affordable co-working space that mixes together creating a “start-up vibe” in the Cleveland area.
Listen to his opinion as to what Cleveland need to do to get people “out from their garages and basements” to move Cleveland’s entrepreneirual spirit forward.
Ingenuity continues through Sun 9/16 at Docks 30 & 32, just North of Cleveland Browns stadium, right on the lakefront.
