Cupcakes, Cup Pies and Scavenger Hunts in Fairlawn
By Audrey Arend
Greek mythology states that there is an angel of hope at the bottom of Pandora’s box, but the only thing you’ll find in the bottom of a Pandora’s Cupcakes box are a few crumbs; and that is only if you haven’t resorted to ravenously devouring those as well.
Cool Cleveland Correspondant Audrey Arend interviews Pandora’s Cupcakes Owner Ken Carr HERE.
Pandora’s Cupcakes is heaven on earth to those of us who have a sweet tooth or two. Their delicious cupcakes are made fresh every day and the menu variety offered is bound to keep you coming back for weeks just to try every flavorful concoction. Located in Akron, Pandora’s is not the only bakery in town but it is, by is my standards, the best. New to the area, Pandora’s Cupcakes opened for business in September 2011 and has been thriving ever since. They offer numerous different flavors of cupcakes including: strawberry lemonade, s’mores, salted caramel, double chocolate and many more.
Earlier this year, Pandora’s introduced their new “cup pies.” These delicious treats are exactly what you’d imagine: miniature pies baked to perfection. The cup pies come in several varieties, but my personal favorite is the fresh strawberry. One thing that sets Pandora’s apart from the competition is that they never sell out of their products. That’s right, day or night, if you come into Pandora’s during business hours you are sure to get that cupcake you’ve been craving. When asked why he was such a stickler on this issue, Ken Carr, owner of Pandora’s Cupcakes, said matter-of-factly “No one calls Walmart to see if they still have lettuce. The same principle should apply to our business.”
Another way Pandora’s stands out from the crowd is their passion for customer satisfaction and involvement in their business. If you “friend” them on Facebook, you will get updates on the flavors of the day that are sure to make your mouth water and have you running full-sprint to the shop. Additionally, if there’s a flavor you’re craving that you don’t see listed, you can always make a request. The staff at Pandora’s is dedicated to meeting the customer’s needs. “We have a commitment to the customers,” Carr says. “We’re selling cupcakes and we’re selling fun.”
Fun is exactly the word that came to mind when Carr explained the contests Pandora’s regularly features. To him, he said, it’s a way of keeping the customers engaged and involved with the business. This week, Pandora’s introduced their newest customer contest: a photo scavenger hunt. Photos of the shop’s logo will be posted on their Facebook page and it is up to the customers to decipher where in Akron the photos were taken. Then, they ask that you go to those locations and snap a picture of yourself. The customer that discovers the most secret locations will win the amazing grand prize of six dozen delicious Pandora’s cupcakes. There will also be daily prizes, so be on the lookout for the unveiling of the photos from now through 7/21.
Customer contests, endless cupcakes, and outstanding dedication to customer service are just a few of the things that makes Pandora’s Cupcakes a great business. They are located at 3571 Brookwall Drive, Akron, Ohio. They are open Monday –Thursday 10am to 9 pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 10pm, and Sundays from noon to 6pm.
Join the scavenger hunt running now till 7/21 here. To learn more about Pandora’s Cupcakes, visit their website at www.pandorascupcakes.com or on Facebook at Facebook.com/Pandorascupcakes.
