Last Thu 4/12 I attended the free, sold-out Concert for Cleveland at the Q. The concert was part of the Rock Hall’s Induction week and featured a multigenerational lineup with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, locals Kids These Days and hometown star Kid Cudi.

George Clinton played for about an hour with songs like “Give Up the Funk,” “Flash Light” and “One Nation Under Groove” with many artists joining him on stage. Most of the older crowd enjoyed it a lot and were dancing and singing along but the younger crowd didn’t really react much; they weren’t as into it as the older crowd.

Kids These Days was next to perform. They were on for about an hour. They were different and the older crowd enjoyed them. They’re like a mix between hip hop and jazz.

When Kid Cudi entered, the older crowd left and it was more alive in there. Kid Cudi came out to his song “High Off Life” from his newer CD, WZRD. He sang a few new songs and a few old ones like “Memories,” “Erase Me” and “Pursuit of Happiness.” He played for about an hour and at one point even brought his 2-year-old daughter, Vada, out. She said “da da” into the microphone and the crowd loved it!

The whole concert wrapped up by about 11pm.
