PWO Wrestling @ Akron Civic Theatre

Sat 1/15 @ 7PM

Get rowdy — you’re an extra on TV! Well… sorta. PWO Wrestling’s show on Sat 1/25 will be recorded and shown nationwide on Sports Time Ohio, so you’re encouraged to be enthusiastic. PWO is an “old school meets new age” wrestling company founded in 2007 in good ol’ Cle. Forget WWE — local wrestling is much more innovative and interesting (and affordable!). Plus, PWO is actually family-friendly. Pro Wrestling Ohio does NOT contain the course language, extreme violence or excessive sexuality featured in other wrestling programs.

The scoop:

PWO is very proud of its strong roots in the area, and also works diligently to aid local communities through relationships with a variety of charitable organizations, including Cleveland’s “Cops & Kids”, Cleveland Police Athletic League, Army National Guard, Boy Scouts of America, among many others.

Their wrestling stars are diverse, charismatic, and cater to all ages, ethnicity, and walks of life. One such example is area native Gregory Iron, who returns to Akron to compete live on January 15th. Gregory has one of the most inspiring and dynamic stories anywhere in sports or entertainment. Born with a mild form of cerebral palsy, Greg dreamed of one day being a professional wrestling star despite his physical disability. 24 years later, despite a tumultuous and oftentimes abusive home-life, as well as a concussion suffered early in his career that nearly cost him his life, Greg lives his dream as part of PWO, and serves as an inspiration and role model to countless area children and handicapped persons. On January 15th, Greg will team with his tag partner Hobo Joe, an inspirational character of another sort, to defend their PWO Tag Team Championships against The Sons of Michigan, a team that feels anything from Ohio is inferior to the state of Michigan.
