Sat 1/17 @ 8PM

Sun 1/18 @ 4PM

It might seem contradictory to call a concert “Fourteenth-century avant garde.” But that’s what Cleveland-based chamber ensemble Les Délices has dubbed its latest program, which it will perform twice this weekend — on Saturday at the William Busta Gallery and on Sunday at Plymouth Church UCC in Shaker Heights.

Collaborating with Blue Heron Ensemble director/ Les Délices regular Scott Metcalfe (pictured), playing vielle and gothic harp), Les Délices director Debra Nagy (recorders and douçaines) has put together an evening of obscure songs from late 14th-century France and Italy that maintain their freshness today. They’ll be joined by a pair of vocalists from the Boston-based Blue Heron, tenor Jason McStoots and countertenor Martin Near.

Metcalfe will give a short lecture at 3pm before the Sunday show.

Tickets are $30.
