Minus singer Dale DeLong, Cleveland indie pop band Ottawa used to be called Tracy Morgan Freeman, a name that didn’t make much sense. Ottawa doesn’t make much sense either, but the band’s raggedy, tuneful garage rock is solid and thoroughly likable. And in what’s turning out to be a huge week for local record releases, Ottawa is joining the party with their new EP Random Lights.
They’ll be joined at their Beachland Ballroom release concert by two other local bands worth hearing: the hard-hitting yet moody Midnight Passenger and ridiculously tuneful symphonic pop band Cities & Coasts. Johnny LaRock & Furface will DJ in the tavern before the show and between sets.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
