Cleveland’s Horns and Things, which has been performing together for over two decades, is on the lighter end of jazz. But just because they lean toward the pop/R&B side doesn’t mean they don’t have impressive chops. Formed by sax players J.T. Lynch and Ken LeeGrand, the quintet has shared stages with jazz acts like Dexter Gordon, Pieces of a Dream and Freddie Hubbard, as well as a host of R&B acts such as Average White Band, Phillip Bailey and Millie Jackson. With five albums under their collective belt, they’ve proved themselves as songwriters too.
Their music makes for a mellow, relaxed evening out, and the Akron Civic Theatre’s intimate cabaret setting is a great place to check them out. Tickets are $20 or two for $35, so make it a date night. This is hand-holding music.
