Dubliner Mary Black has been a key part of the Irish music scene since the mid ’70s. Coming from a musical family — both parents were musicians and multiple siblings are also musicians — she made her first solo album in the early ’80s while spending some time with traditional Irish group De Dannan. It was her 1989 album No Frontiers that sent her career flying into the stratosphere and kept it soaring through the ’90s.

Her output tapered off in the ’00s, and now, at age 59, she’s announced she’s hanging up touring. She’s passing the torch though — both her son Danny and her daughter Róisín are musicians. And Róisín, who performs as Róisín O with an artsy singer/songwriter style that’s been compared to Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell, will be joining her for a final tour, with some select U.S. dates. One of those dates is at the Music Box Supper Club.

Tickets are $40 in advance, $45 day of show.
