The musical HAIR took the theatre world by storm when it premiered in 1968 with energetic music, youthful vigor, and in-your-face political messages.
50 years later, the show couldn’t be more relevant. “I think it’s more relevant today than it ever has been,” says Victoria Bussert, director of Baldwin Wallace University’s Musical Theatre Department, who is directing the production. “As artists, you can also be extremely political.”
The Beck Center recently joined the Actor’s Equity Association, raising it’s professional status. “One of the great things is that now all of these students will qualify towards their Equity card by working at Beck Center,” says Scott Spence, artistic director.
HAIR runs February 9 through 25, and tickets are now on sale for all upcoming productions including My First Time, Bent and Gypsy.
