In late summer 2018, Opal on Pearl owner Tony Mellon took over the Old Brooklyn space recently vacated by Drink Bar and Grill, a space which had been the site of many ambitious but failed restaurants over the years, banking on the neighborhood’s recent resurgence to give it longevity.
He refocused on emphasizing well-curated wine list, which is joined by local draft beers and classic craft cocktails, and enhanced with wine-friendly small plates including flatbreads, artichoke dip, caprese salad and cheeseboards supplied with selections from the nearby Old Brooklyn Cheese Company, and a handful of entrée-sized offerings.
