Akron Area Children’s Theater Offers Video Holiday Play “Mrs. Claus”

Through Thu 12/31

Magical Theatre Company, based in the Akron area, presents professional kid-oriented shows, both for families and school groups. Its holiday shows have become a beloved holiday outing for families in the area, yet another chance for little girls to wear their party shoes.

Magical Theatre Company wanted to continue to bring the holiday magic but alas, they couldn’t do it in a theater. So instead, they created an online streaming production that can be viewed any time until December 31 — and you not only don’t have to wear party shoes, you can watch in your pajamas.

Mrs. Claus is, says co-producing director Holly Barkdoll, “funny, clever, and will appeal to both kids and adults.”

The plot description says, “With a very long, pre-Christmas spreadsheet nearly completed, Mrs. C is in for a surprise when her Personal Elf Assistant Buddy informs her via video chat that there’s still much more to do: the North Pole email inbox is flooded with inquiries about everything from Santa’s health to how reindeer fly! Mrs. Claus resolves to reply to all the curious children’s messages, but quickly finds that she needs expert elfin advice to guide her best responses.”

It’s $20 for a 24-hour Vimeo rental. To order it go to magicaltheatre.org.
