It’s Hispanic Heritage Month, so the Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center on Cleveland’s West Side in hosting its 11thannual ¡Celebrando! (It’s also the weekend before Mexican Independence Day, September 15, but with most of the Hispanics in Cleveland being Puerto Rican, that’s not such a big deal.)
The event features live music and dance performers, as well as art exhibits, hands-on activities for families, including crafts and interactive dance lessons, and free food! They’ll also have tables from community groups with information about the resources they have available.
“As the longest standing multidisciplinary Latino arts and culture organization in Northeast Ohio, we focus on the preservation and promotion of Latino culture, heritage and art, to amplify the significance of local Latino youth and families,” says the Julia de Burgos center. “We manage to accomplish such through our diverse programming, fortifying our role as a guiding light for the discovery of Latino historical, cultural, visual, performing, and literary arts right here in Northeast Ohio.”
¡Celebrando! is open to everyone, Hispanic or not, to learn about the cultural riches Latinos bring to our community.
