Rusty

We’ve always embraced our region’s rust belt heritage, while celebrating our diverse entrepreneurial economy. We throw the spotlight on culture (in the broadest sense) because it is generally under-reported by mainstream media and because it attracts and retains talent and investment.

So certainly we’re going to encourage a Rust Belt Group Hug, and recognize the hard work that will bring a new Velodrome to Cleveland, and happily pass along links to IngenuityFest’s Bal Ingenieux and Cleveland Fashion Week’s Glam Jam and the grand opening of Simpler Times Gallery. We think Lean Dog’s Startup Mixer and holding over The Vibrator Play are all signs of a region hitting it’s stride. And what we don’t have we import, like the Slideluck Potshow or all the fabulous music previewed in our feature on Spring Sounds. Rusty? We think not. –Thomas Mulready

And thus, Rust Belt Group Hug was born…

This week I’m going to gaze into my crystal ball and do a bit of political prognosticating. With Democrats from around the state gleefully lining up like teenyboppers (do they even use that term anymore?) at a Justin Bieber concert to run against John Kasich, there’s going to be a ripple effect, allowing for a change in the local political landscape…
