Oberlin Folk-String Band Performs at Riverdog Gallery

Sat 12/6 @ 7:30PM

Oberlin College is home to a world-class conservatory which has produced countless world-class classical musicians. But it’s also a hive of extracurricular creativity, so it’s inspired many non-classical bands and musicians over the years. Liz Phair, Josh Ritter, Marc Cohen, Rhiannon Giddens, Chris Eldridge of the Punch Brothers and a couple of members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs all attended Oberlin.

A lot of Oberlin musicians get their feet wet performing at nearby Riverdog Barn, and this week yet another group of Oberliners will be playing there in the Riverdog Gallery where it hosts wintertime concerts. The Little Hours Band is a new folk-style string trio featuring fiddler Ella Kavanaugh, banjo player Abby Goodman and mandolinist Scarborough LeWine; all members pitch in on vocals.
