Ferrets are really, really cute, no matter what Bucky Katt in the Get Fuzzy comic strip or former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani think. Slinky and playful, the make delightful pets. If you come out to Skunkfest on North Ridgeville in September, you’ll get to hold one, courtesy of Avon Lake-based Ferrets Unlimited, a no-kill rescue that rehomes abandoned and surrendered ferrets.
They support their volunteer-run nonprofit group with fundraisers throughout the year, and they have one coming up called Ferret Bowl, taking place at North Woods Lanes (10435 Valley View) in Macedonia. For $20 you get unlimited bowling and shows, as well as both vegan and carnivore snacks, and a free soft drink. Additional beverages are available for purchase. There will also be raffle prizes and a 50/50 Lucky Ferret raffle.
