Main Street Kent is presenting yet another story walk, a way to get people out and about in downtown Kent, engaging in a fun family activity, learning something, and interacting with local businesses.
The Share the Rainbow story walk is intended to promote literacy, community and getting some outdoor, fresh-air exercise. The kickoff event takes place at the Hometown Bank Plaza downtown where there’ll be free books, bookmarks and cookies, story times at 10:30am and 12:30pm, and photo opportunities with Mr. Black Squirrel, a costumed character representing Kent’s famous black squirrels.
You can also pick up the Story Walk map which will direct you to the 18 downtown businesses that will be displaying work by 18 artists illustrating the story. (You can also download the map at mainstreetkent.org/events/story-walk-kent.) Some of the businesses will be offering tie-in activities as well.
The proceeds from Share the Rainbow book sales during the event will go to Chef Jose Andres’ World Central Kitchen which feeds communities in distress, such as refugees form the invasion of Ukraine.
