One of the original live/work buildings in the Superior Arts District just east of downtown is the Tower Press Building, which hosts a variety of artists from painters, to photographers, to filmmakers (such as noted experimental filmmaker Rob Banks whose image is above), and has a large, light-flooded gallery on the first floor. Each spring, the resident artists and studios in the building host an open house so people can meet the artists and see what kind of working they’re doing. There’s usually art (and sometimes outside vendors) in the gallery space, and you can drop in the various studios to see what’s going on and purchase some art.
It’s free and open to all and there’s free parking in the back lot off East 21st Street
