Earlier this year, over a period of months, the Rock Hall hosted a series called the Rock Hall Film Club, hosting as series of documentaries about various musicians.
If you couldn’t devote that many evenings to coming to the Rock Hall for movie viewing, you can now see six of them in a single day at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Rock Doc Film Festival, along with rare footage and talks about filmmakers and other special guests. They’ll be screened on a 18’ X 24’ screen with Dolby 7.1 surround sound in the fourth floor Foster Theater, and snacks and drinks will be available for purchase all day.
Films include 2021’s Fanny: The Right to Rock, about one of the first all-women rock groups; 2023’s Born Innocent: The Red Kross Story, about an L.A. punk band that attracted a devoted ult following; 2006’s The Best Summer about a mid-’90s music festival in Australia; 2024’s Billy Preston: That’s The Way God Planned It about the legendary keyboard player who worked with the Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand, among many others; 2025’s Di’Anno: Iron Maiden’s Lost Singer, revealing the story of the heavy metal band’s pre-superstardom vocalist; and 2024’s Eno, the story of groundbreaking producer Brian Eno, noted for his work with Roxy Music, David Bowie and U2, among many others, and his own experimental work.
