Printmaker Michael Gill Debuts New Set of Prints and Art Book at William Busta Projects

Fri 2/6 @ 5:30-8PM

Michael Gill was one of the founders of CAN Journal — the quarterly magazine, weekly email newsletter and website covering northeast Ohio’s visual arts — of which he’s now publisher-editor. Before that he was the arts editor at a local alternative news weekly.

But he is also an accomplished artist with a specialty in woodcut and letterpress prints, which he’s assembled into a series of artist books, as well as individual prints, which reflect his interest in things such as bicycling, the urban landscape, childhood activities and cats. In his new show, Momentum Like Diamonds, open at William Busta Projects in the Waterloo Arts District (upstairs from Doink’s Smashburger) this Friday during Walk All Over Waterloo, he leans into his well-known passion for cycling in a show that features both woodcut/letterpress prints and a limited-edition artist book.

The show will be on view through Saturday March 7; it will also be the location of the CAN Journal Spring Issue Launch reception on Friday March 6. It’s free and open to the public.
