There is virtually no performing arts group in this area more entertaining than the North Coast Men’s Chorus. In 2022, though, they outdid themselves with Shoeless: A Musical Tale of Cinderella, their own distinctive take on the fairy tale written by chorus member Bryan K. Fetty. The fully staged show incorporated Broadway and pop hits by artists such as Bruno Mars, the Beatles, Beyonce, Irving Berlin and Stephen Sondheim, recontextualizing them to tell the classic fairytale in their own unique way, with choreography, costumes and endless humor.
It sold out that run and became so legendary that the group is now reviving it — and amplifying it. For this run, Columbus-based, internationally noted drag artist Nina West will take on the role of the fairy godmother, joining the all-male cast bringing distinctive flair to roles such as the wicked stepmother, the nasty stepdaughter, the put-upon Cinderella and her prince charming.
