One of the many great things about Cleveland’s small theaters is how they take chances: presenting area premieres, experimental works and new works, often through playwright festivals, such as the one that Tremont’s tiny convergence-continuum theater has on its schedule for the next three weekend.
It kicks off this week with Michael Anderson’s Journey West, a four-act play described as “an exploration of resilience and a testament to the strength and weakness of man.” It focuses on eight people “all suffering and navigating their own individual turmoil” over two years in four states, as two Florida ranchers cross the southern U.S. to Nevada in 1898 looking for a better life and encountering a retired outlaw on a journey of his own. Dana Sumpter directs.
