Cleveland Ikebana Group Hosts One-Weekend Display at Cleveland Botanical Garden

Fri 5/22 & Sat 5/23 @ 10AM-4PM

Sun 5/24 @ noon-4PM

Ikebana is a distinctively Japanese art form that’s more than 600 years old. It’s a system of flower arrangement based on the artful use of space and form, with its use of deceptively simple, clean lines that’s the opposite of stuffing a bunch of flowers in a vase. Originally connected to Buddhism, it’s now practiced widely without religious overtones.

The Cleveland chapter of Ikebana International was founded in 1959 to spread knowledge of ikebana and Japanese culture in general in Northeast Ohio, in keeping with its motto “Friendship Through Flowers.”

You can learn more this weekend by stopping down at the Cleveland Botanical Garden when the Cleveland ikebana chapter will be holding its annual exhibit. It’s included with regular admission.
