With the cancellation of the city of Cleveland’s Juneteenth Freedom Fest, which says it’s taking a pause, Cleveland Heights has moved its own Juneteenth celebration from Sunday June 14 to Saturday June 13, the date that Cleveland was otherwise likely to have taken.
Titled “Free to Be,” the family-friendly celebration will include live music and dance performances from Hubbs Groove, Cleveland Chorale, The Unit Band, the Line Dance King, and more, storytelling, local food and other vendors, interactive activities and games, and what’s described as “thematic stations that honor our youth, our community leaders, and the wisdom of our elders.” The Kids’ Zone will offer inflatables, a roller skating rink, a gaming truck, a splash pad, and a petting zoo. Community organizations will be on hand to share information about their resources.
It takes place in the beautiful setting of Cain Park, and it’s free and open to all.
