Akron Art Walk Includes a Street Skatepark and Art Shows Everywhere

Thu 6/11 @ 5-9PM

The quarterly Akron Art Walk is back and its theme for the upcoming one is Unapologetically Us, celebrating “Authenticity, Creative expression and community.” Exhibiting artist Aaron D. Williams, aka Aawful Aaron, and Advocate SkateWorks will transform the street into a skate park with a cipher, block party and skate jam curated by Williams whose show Scorporation is currently on display at Summit Artspace.

It’s one of just many things that will be going on in downtown Akron during the artwalk. There’ll be food and vendors in and around Summit Artspace, including information/resource tables for LGBTQ+ people and their allies, and a resource table hosted by the Akron-Summit County Public Library. The 2016 spring exhibitions will still be on view, its resident artists will be welcoming visitors and pop-up artists will be set up on the third floor.

Look for other activities and exhibits around the area, including Akron Soul Train, Curated Storefront and the Akron Main Library. The Akron Art Museum will also be open to the public.

Go here for more information and a listing of activities, all of which are free.
