09.21-09.28.2016 Loss

Loss

We are all challenged in some way. Some from a loss, some from an opportunity not quite realized. The best among us push through our setbacks to reach new heights.

The original run of The Cradle Will Rock was closed down for its left-leaning message; this week Musical Theatre Project revives it. Loganberry celebrates antiquarian paper, and the Akron Symphony kicks off their season with a little romance. The Grog turns 24 and Ingenuity is reborn in a new industrial space. You can think & drink with the extinct, although networking is (grateful) dead.

Ohio City gets festive while the Barking Spider closes. It’s pandemonium with pumpkins in Peninsula, and Dobama & Karamu announce a promising partnership. Men have more fashion choices than you think, and starting next Monday, you can log on and make plans for Cleveland Restaurant Week. If you haven’t done so, now is the time to register if you want to vote in the Tue 11/8 election. Don’t lose that opportunity. –Thomas Mulready

Maybe the Musical Theatre Project wants to remind us about this as it mounts its version of the play for two performances. Roy Berko talks to director Terri Kent for background. Vote November 8! Wed 9/21 & Sun 9/25.

With the move by Cleveland City Council to rename a section of Cedar Avenue “Don King Way” after the boxing promoter/Call and Post publisher/ex-felon, new attention has been drawn to the fact that it’s on that stretch that he stomped a man to death in 1966.

CoolCleveland columnist C. Ellen Connally asks if this is an appropriate thing to do and concludes that it’s probably not.
