The Modern Electric Hosts Another “North Coast Christmas”

Fri 12/23 @ 8:30PM

Cleveland band The Modern Electric have had a holiday tradition for a few years now: their annual North Coast Christmas show. It’s named after the band’s single “North Coast Christmas,” which was first released a 11 years ago. They’ve released remastered versions and new arrangement since then: you can still snag an EP with multiple versions or the original single at their website.

Anyway, the quartet, who call their music “cinematic rock,” have been kicking around area venues and building a fan base since they won the High School Rock Off in 2008. And they always seem to have something new in the pipeline: during the pandemic they founded the Cleveland Verses Foundation, enlisting various other area musicians to contribute tracks to tribute albums (Bob Dylan, AC/DC) for causes much as pandemic relief and human trafficking. The band includes Garrett Komyati on vocals, piano and guitar, Matthew Childers on bass and drums, Holden Laurence (who has a productive solo career on the side) on guitar, and Michael O’Brien on drums, who make a big sound for four guys.

Hollin Kings and Jack Harris will open the show at the Beachland Ballroom. Get tickets here.
