Local Ensemble Pays Tribute to Traditional Italian Folk Music at BOP STOP

Sat 10/17 @ 3-5PM

Some venues and musicians have tried to make up for a summer devoid of all the usual festivals and big touring acts with drive-in and small-scale outdoor concerts. But the weather is getting nippy and that will soon come to an end as well.

Enjoy one of the last few outdoor concerts presented by the BOP STOP on the lawn adjacent to the clubs when it presents Alla Boara, a band that draws on both jazz and traditional Italian folk music. Cleveland drummer/composer Anthony Taddeo leads the ensemble, which uses Alan Lomax’s 1954 Smithsonian Folkways field recordings of nearly extinct tunes as its launching pad.

The group draws on the talents of some of the area’s top musicians, including vocalist Amanda Powell, guitarist Dan Bruce, trumpet players Tommy Lehman, bassist Ian Kinnamon, and accordionist/keyboard players Clay Colley.

Fifteen well-spaced tables are available for $50 each, seating up to four people, with the band set up on the patio more than 20 feet away. There’ll be outdoor bar service, but nofood so you’re welcome to bring your own or order from a nearby restaurant. Order your tickets here.
