So …. you got busy and distracted and now it’s almost Christmas (or it’s Chanukah …. in two days!!!!) Luckily, the final weekend before the holidays is packed with maker markets and shopping opportunities.
The Screw Factory Artists Holiday Market is always one of the last on board, taking place over three days this weekend. Most of the resident artists on the building’s second and third floor will have their doors open, and the event spaces will be filled with guest artists and vendors. It runs Friday December 16 @ 6-10pm; Saturday December 17 @ 10am-6pm; and Sunday December 8 @ 10am-3pm.
The annual Beachland Holiday Flea features almost two dozen vendors with things that appeal to rock fans and pop-culture aficionados, including vinyl records, posters, music memorabilia, vintage clothing and cool collectibles. Be sure to stop in the new Music Saves shop a few doors from the Beachland which has newly been turned into a store specializing in Cleveland music stuff: recordings, merch, photos and more. Both will be open Saturday December 17 @ 10am-3pm.
SPACES Gallery in Ohio City will be hosting the final weekend of Off the Wall, which has traveled between several local arts organizations. It will include handmade works by Northeast Ohio artists, Friday December 16 @ 5-8pm.
Barb Merritt’s 818 Studios in Tremont holds the second weekend of its Holiday Market on Friday December 16 @ 5-9pm. It features a variety of local artists and creators including Urban Rootz Artisan Soap, Floyd Arts’ hand-painted pop culture magnets, Gypsy Hermit Trading Company’s reusable fabric gift wraps, Urbal Guru’s jewelry, and fine art pieces by artists such as Tessa LaBaron, Dott von Schneider and Merritt herself. And there’ll be hot chocolate, coffee and sweets!
Finally, it’s Third Friday at 78th Street Studios December 16 @ 5-9PM, with a dizzying array of shopping opportunities. Northcoast Promotions will have dozens of their vendors in both event spaces, while artists and galleries will be offering everything from handmade note cards to original paintings and fine-art photography. There’s vintage finds at the Byzantine and Googie Style, local designer clothing at the Yellowcake Shop and much more.
All these events are free and open to the public.
