Last week local guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Diana Chittester was tapped to perform a short opening set for Jackson Browne at a private fundraising event in Bratenahl for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tim Ryan.
Ryan campaign staff clearly took note of her powerful, sincere performance and ability to move a crowd, and messaged her to let her know that they’d be interested in having her join the candidate for a statewide series of rallies in the final week of the campaign.
So between Wednesday, November 2 through Monday, November 7, Chittester will provide pre-program music for Ryan’s Workers First tour rallies across Ohio, including stops in Toledo (November 2), Dayton (November 3), Cincinnati (November 4), Cleveland (November 6), Akron (November 7) and Youngstown (November 7).
Many of the rallies are taking place outside early voting location to encourage voters to “get it done.” Chittester will perform renditions of American classics such as “America the Beautiful” and Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land.” To find a list of rally locations, go to timforoh.com/gotv.
“Voting is our most powerful tool,” says Chittester. “Though all elections are important a lot is at stake in this race. We need to get out and vote to protect reproductive rights, marriage equality, and to secure democracy.”
