Wed 11/13-Sun 11/17
The popularity of the Cleveland Comedy Festival, now in its 12th year, continues to grow rapidly, with its combination of national performers and talented locals, with different types of comedy for different tastes. In fact, its Women and Wine showcase at Kennedy’s at Playhouse Square Sat 11/16 is already sold out.
But don’t despair — there’s plenty more (although it’s advisable to grab those tickets quickly). On Wed 11/13 and Thu 11/14 at Kennedy’s, the Hometown Favorites showcases will feature diverse performers such as “gentleman, scholar, diabetic comedian” Brian Kenny, “self-described heavy chocolate chick” Juanda Mayfield, and standup comic/writer Dave Arena, who moved back to Cleveland after living in Brooklyn. Tickets are $10.
If you really want to see “up-and-coming,” check out the Class Clown graduation showcase at Kennedy’s Sat 11/17 @ noon featuring kids ages 9-17 who are “graduating” from a series of comedy classes. And then Clean Comedy showcase on Sun 11/17 @ 2 and 4pm is another chance for the family to laugh together. Tickets to those showcases are $10.
On Wed 11/13, Thu 11/14 and Fri 11/15 there will be Spotlight Showcases at Superelectric Pinball’s 78th Street Studios location, featuring some of the best new comedians from around the country. Tickets are $5-$10. And national comedians Oberlin alum Curtis Cook and Shane Torres will each headline at Kennedy’s, Cook on Friday and Torres on Saturday, will two shows each. Tickets for Cook are $15; tickets for Torres are $25.
