If you’re looking for something kind of low-key to do on the crazy bar night that is Thanksgiving Eve, come on our to Akron’s casually elegant little boite, Blu Jazz.
Akron-based rising young jazz guitarist Dan Wilson, a finalist in the 2015 Indaba Music Wes Montgomery International Jazz Guitar Competition and recently guitarist in the band of internationally touring jazz organ player Joey DeFrancesco, will host a jam session. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join both top area professional musicians and aspiring players on the stage. Others are invited to have a drink and listen.
It’s sponsored by BLU Jazz+ Masterclass Foundation (BJMF), a new program that hosts master classes and other educational opportunities with visiting national and international players as well as top local musicians, to give student musicians a chance to learn from the best.
It’s free, although donations for the work of BJMF will be gratefully accepted.
